Stacked drop chamber XP farm

A layered mob XP farm by TheySix, published January 2026. Mobs spawn on stacked platforms and are walked through a fence gate and water mechanism at the centre of each layer down into a shared drop chamber, with slabs around the outside so spiders cannot escape and creepers cannot reach you. The material list covers two layers and the video builds eight. It is cheap and it is the most contested farm in the library: a large share of the comment section reports it producing almost nothing.

• RealAFJail tested it in creative and found mobs get stuck in the fence gate mechanism on the second floor, leaving it full of trapped mobs and effectively useless. That is the likeliest explanation for most of the low rates below.
• hwihwi6584 gives the mechanical reason the layers do not help: mobs more than 32 blocks from the player do not move at all, so only about three layers fit inside the range where they will walk to the drop. This is a mob tower rather than a mob farm.
• droplost1081 built five layers and found the top three spawn mobs on solid blocks rather than the water, so they never fall.
• The lava cast is unnecessary. mikecamp7175 and avrilbritten9989 point out it is two and a half stacks of cobblestone and faster to just carry it up.
• Orange920-e7y puts signs where the mobs land with water on top, which removes the fall damage and leaves them easy to kill, and cellar_doors swaps the stone in each fence gate mechanism for signs so mobs fall through properly.
• kirayoshikage1471 converts it to a creeper farm by replacing the trapdoors with carpets and putting trapdoors on each layer's ceiling instead.
