Watch the full tutorial on YouTubeThe original simple hoglin farm, from 2020 and still running. A flat platform sits on the nether roof above a crimson forest with warped fungus in one corner, hoglins spawn on it and walk away from the fungus until they drop off the edge into lava, and the meat lands cooked in the hoppers below. There is no redstone and it costs about three stacks of blocks. Two things have changed under it since it was published and both are fixed in the comments: baby hoglins stopped dying on the trapdoors in 1.18, and the AFK spot the video uses is too low for the rates it claims. The design is credited to RaysWorks, who turned up in the comments to approve of it.
Put slabs over the hoppers instead of the trapdoors. Mojang changed the baby hoglin hitbox in 1.18 and the babies now survive on trapdoors. This is the top fix in the thread.
AFK at y 255, not the 90 blocks up the video uses. At 90 the hoglins keep spawning below the nether ceiling instead of on your platform and the rate roughly halves.
Fence the edge of the platform. Hoglins shove each other off it, and a one high wall with slabs on top keeps them in.
Campfires on the hoppers instead of lava give raw porkchops, which trade to butcher villagers for emeralds.
From 1.21.8 the drops started burning in the lava. Soul campfires on the hoppers fix that, kill faster, and deal with the baby hitbox at the same time.
Bring more building blocks than the list says, several builders ran out.
Save this farm to a collection to tick materials off as you gather them.
