Watch the full tutorial on YouTubeA bone meal fed bamboo farm by BasicRedstone, built specifically for DonutSMP. Thirty dispensers pointed at thirty bamboo plants fire bone meal on a fast clock, pistons snap the stalks the moment they shoot up, and mud under the plants lets the hoppers pull the drops straight through. Because the growth comes from bone meal rather than random ticks, it is not bound by the normal bamboo growth rate, which is how it reaches figures no vanilla bamboo farm can touch. It also eats bone meal at an enormous rate to do it.
Bone meal reaching only the first dispenser is the most common complaint by a wide margin. The hopper line fills in sequence, so it needs enough bone meal to reach the end and the hoppers placed correctly. StorOpOp, CarlNana-t5i3u and Jammmmie-SMC all land on the same answer.
The left side dying after a while is the second most common, and johnjajju2577 traces it to the bone meal simply running out on that run.
The lever does not start anything. simqlyx says it only mutes the note blocks, and you start the farm by right clicking a note block. LeviVeider kickstarts it with a few flicks before settling on one.
The mud under the bamboo is doing real work. Teddy_6-7 says roughly a quarter of the bamboo gets stuck without it, which is straight off the profit.
If the clock stalls, superturkey2458 says relog, build the whole thing inside one chunk, and check the observer direction on the clock. df42010 warns that on other servers a clock this fast stops after a few ticks on its own.
Gav_TD1 does the economics: it returns 1.5 bamboo per bone meal, and bone meal sells for over four times what bamboo does, so on DonutSMP prices you finish with less than you started.
Save this farm to a collection to tick materials off as you gather them.
