Watch the full tutorial on YouTubeA modular bamboo farm by Villager King 54, built for DonutSMP. Each module is 32 bamboo plants grown two blocks tall on dirt, with sixteen pistons on a redstone clock snapping them off and packed ice under a water stream flushing the drops away. Modules tile sideways as far as you want to build, and everything feeds one auto crafter that turns the bamboo into bamboo blocks and one shulker loader that packs them. No bone meal anywhere in it, which is the point on a server where bone meal is not free.
The auto crafter randomly makes sticks instead of bamboo blocks, and a single stick jams the shulker loader. Around two dozen builders report this and nobody, including Villager King, answers it. Treat it as an open flaw rather than a build mistake.
The other unanswered problem is bamboo getting stuck on the dirt at the edges instead of washing into the water. Noo-z8l loses about half the output on 200 modules and several others describe the same thing.
Villager King's own top tip: put a redstone clock where the dropper sits on the shulker loader so it spits the finished shulkers out into storage.
The three fast piston pushes per cycle cause heavy lag. TilerBlevens dropped the clock to one pulse every four seconds at 72 modules and got the same output.
miciocn6819 skips the clock per module entirely, using one observer in each row at the front with two blocks behind the pistons under it, which wipes the whole row at once.
Do not place the bamboo two tall by hand. justaCasualCoder says to let it grow instead, because DonutSMP's anticheat makes fast placing glitchy.
Save this farm to a collection to tick materials off as you gather them.
